Washington DC is a beautiful, cosmopolitan city that attracts residents and visitors from around the globe. Everyone knows DC for a couple of obvious reasons:
Capital of the United States
Seat of international political power and influence
Location of iconic government buildings, memorials and museums
But not everyone knows that DC is the home of several of the finest universities in the United States, a list that includes our neighbor, American University, more commonly known as AU.
American University embodies many of the qualities that make Washington DC so special. The students and the programs of study reflect the global involvement and influence of the city and the university. The prestigious School of International Service is well-known for attracting future leaders in global development, foreign policy, and international civil service. But there are other ways to influence the world as well, including Theater and Performing Arts, Business and Real Estate, Journalism, Law, Political Communication (very DC!), Film and Video, Language and Area Studies, Religious Studies, and Peace and Conflict Resolution. (We’re especially in favor of peace and conflict resolution!)
So where should you stay when you visit this cosmopolitan campus with its international focus? We suggest our beautiful inn near American University. The Woodley Park Guest House is located very close to AU, in the lovely, historic Woodley Park neighborhood. We are one block from the Woodley Park – Zoo Metro Station and just three stops away from the Tenleytown – AU Metro Station. Both stations are on the Red Line, so it’s a quick trip with no transfers! And if you prefer door-to-door service, DC offers many options via popular ride-sharing apps.
We have been hosting marvelous guests at our Woodley Park B&B for 18 years, and we have enjoyed getting to know dozens of AU families during that time – from initial college visits, to parents’ weekends, to graduation. Whether you are busy enjoying campus activities during All American Weekend, seeing your favorite performer in a musical production at the Katzen Arts Center, or attending an alumni event at the Washington College of Law, the Woodley Park Guest House is your perfect home away from home. When you stay with us you will find peaceful rooms, elegant original artwork, a healthy and delicious breakfast buffet, afternoon tea and treats, knowledgeable and helpful innkeepers, and the priceless camaraderie that comes with meeting and engaging with fellow travelers from around the world.
We would be delighted to be your Washington DC hosts. To make your reservation, call us at 202-667-0218 or Visit Us Online to book your stay at our Washington DC inn near American University.
